Healing | Helping Others | Natural Soy Candles

  • Why Stillness?

Stillness as a company, is about self-care and caring for others on our journey. I have often wondered why it is difficult to fix seemingly small problems in our society. The broadest of answers is that there are too many obstacles in our way and most of us just don't know how or where to begin to make a change.

I thought of starting small, with self-care, taking time to rest or heal so that I can be my best self for others. Candle-making for me. is another step on my journey. It is a healing experience. I find joy and comfort in making something homemade and out of love.

The second part of Stillness is giving back. For every candle purchased, together, we will donate part of the proceeds to a shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence and trafficking.

Starting up as a new business owner, I am aware that our impact will be small but as I contemplated starting Stillness, a young girl reminded me of what matters most. In my office, I found a beautiful poster on my wall. It read "A small business can turn into, a worldwide one!"

Her loving encouragement reminded me that even a small and loving gesture, can move mountains if we don't give up on our dreams. She encouraged me to try.

So why Stillness? To give ourselves loving care when now, more than ever, we need respite. Then, to light the path forward for others one candle at a time. Thank you for reading this and for joining me on this adventure.

  • About Soy

Soy wax is made from soybeans, and it is a natural and renewable product. Unlike paraffin, which is a by-product of crude oil refining, soy wax is a relatively pure compound with which to make candles

Soy wax burns more slowly than paraffin, which makes your candle last longer.

Soy wax is clean burning, it offers a milder scent throw and makes it better for people with allergies and sensitive noses.

Soybeans are grown in the United States, helping to support American Farmers.

Many candles sold in stores use either paraffin or a paraffin/soy blend. Paraffin is a less expensive wax which is why it is widely used.

    Candle Care

    • Keep wick centered and trimmed to ¼’’ before every burn.
    • Burn candle until the wax melts to the edge of your vessel every time. This prevents what is called "tunneling" which avoids any wax waste and prolongs the life of your candle.
    • Keep out of the reach of children and pets and always burn within your sight.
    • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
    • Place on temperature safe surface to avoid heat damage.
    • Keep away from drafts.
    • Burn no longer than 2-3 hours each time you light the candle. Enjoy!
